About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Node.js Engineer with 3+ years of professional experience to join our development team.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Node.js, backend application development, REST APIs, databases, third-party integrations, and backend architecture. The candidate should be comfortable working with modern JavaScript/TypeScript technologies and have a basic understanding of frontend development to effectively collaborate with frontend teams and understand end-to-end application flows.

Location: Indore | Full-Time | Onsite

Experience: 3+ Years

Preferred: Candidates from Indore/local areas, as the selection process includes in-person interviews.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable backend applications using Node.js.
2. Design and develop secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
3. Work with frameworks such as Express.js, Fastify, or similar Node.js frameworks.
4. Design and implement database schemas, queries, relationships, indexes, and data access layers.
5. Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar databases.
6. Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, external services, and other system integrations.
7. Implement authentication, authorization, API security, validation, logging, and error handling.
8. Optimize backend applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
9. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and application issues.
10. Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
11. Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards and development best practices.
12. Collaborate with frontend developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and project managers.
13. Understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
14. Monitor and improve application performance and backend reliability.

Required Skills

Backend — Must Have

1. 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
2. Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
3. Strong experience building REST APIs and backend services.
4. Good experience with Express.js, Fastify, or similar Node.js frameworks.
5. Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, Promises, async/await, event loop, and Node.js runtime behavior.
6. Strong knowledge of database concepts, including:

8. SQL queries
9. Joins
10. Indexing
11. Transactions
12. Query optimization
13. Relationships
14. Hands-on experience with at least one relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
15. Good understanding of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
16. Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as JWT, OAuth, sessions, and role-based access control.
17. Understanding of API security, validation, rate limiting, error handling, and logging.
18. Experience with Git and version control.
19. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Frontend — Basic Understanding Required

The role is primarily backend-focused, but candidates must have a basic understanding of frontend development.

1. Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
2. Basic understanding of React.js and component-based frontend development.
3. Ability to understand frontend-backend integration and API consumption.
4. Understanding of how frontend applications communicate with backend APIs.
5. Basic understanding of browser/network concepts and debugging API-related issues.

Candidates do not need to be strong frontend developers, but should be comfortable understanding the frontend flow and working with frontend developers.

Good to Have

1. Experience with Next.js or other React-based frameworks, including an understanding of server-side rendering and API routes.
2. Experience working with Shopify / Shopify Plus and Shopify APIs.
3. Experience with Shopify app development or third-party Shopify integrations.
4. Experience with Redis and caching strategies.
5. Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or other messaging/queue technologies.
6. Experience with background jobs and asynchronous processing.
7. Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, etc.
8. Understanding of Docker and containerized applications.
9. Understanding of CI/CD and cloud-based deployments.
10. Experience with unit and integration testing.
11. Understanding of application performance monitoring and production troubleshooting.
